Title: Shiver (book 1 of the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy)
Author: Maggie Stiefvater
Stars – 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Review: Shiver is a story about a boy who is a wolf in the winter and a boy during the summer falling in love with a girl who never became a wolf. The girl who should have became a wolf, but never did, falls in love with the wolf boy as well. It seems like an impossible pairing, especially since the boy, Sam has never even had the nerve to say hello to Grace. However, fate seems to have a plan for these two that even when a prominent local boy is killed by the resident wolf pack, they still find their way to each other.
I am giving this book 4 out of 5 stars. The story is somewhat of a classic one; boy falls in love with girl, girl falls in love with boy. It does have its own challenges that are very unique, however. The story flows well and has a good pace. In my opinion, the love story is a little hard to believe and accept at face value. I mean, come on Grace, quite literally Falls in love with a wolf that watches her from the edge of the woods. Barring the hard to swallow love, I enjoyed this book and recommend it.
I am recommending this book for grades 7 and up. If you enjoy werewolf stories or love unique love stories, definitely give this book a read, and don’t forget there are 2 more books in the series! The entire trilogy can be found at my local library, be sure to see if your library has it!
