Title: Fighting Fate – Book 2 in the Joining of Souls Series

Author: Shaila Patel

Publication Date: April 5th 2018

Synopsis from Goodreads: Empath Liam Whelan is determined to protect Laxshmi “Lucky” Kapadia, the girl he loves, at all costs–even if it means breaking her heart to keep her alive. Stopping the joining could mean Liam’s life is in danger from the Soul Seekers and the ruthless Minister Gagliardi who now has designs on Lucky. Liam has no choice but to find the strength to fight his desires, fight the joining, and fight fate.

After the unthinkable happened, Lucky’s “hallucinations” have been working double-time. Heartbroken and plagued by doubts, she meets a man who gives her a mind-blowing explanation for her predicament. Her apparent savior provides her with an escape from her hell: run away with him or return to her drab existence and watch Liam move on with her heart in his hands. All Lucky ever craved was to be in control of her own fate, but when her only choices fight against her heart, can she find the strength to battle for what she wants?

Review: Good gracious, I don’t even know where to start! I absolutely loved the first book, Soulmated and I did not think that it would be possible to like this one as much, definitely not more. However! This book absolutely blew me away in so many aspects!

Shaila Patel is a master of making the characters and the emotions they feel leap off of the page and metaphorically slap you in the face. Every page contains unbelievably tangible scenes, conversations, and emotions. Not to mention the character development; not only from book one to book two, but also from the beginning of Fighting Fate to the end. It is truly astounding!

I absolutely love all of the fantastic culture surrounding both Lucky and Liam! The way Lucky struggles to be her own person while remaining a part of her family’s culture, plus learning to embrace Liam’s culture and family is so inspiring! I think it would do anyone good to take a close look this amazing character and learn from her.

I was so caught up in the whirlwind of emotions and there came a point when I thought that the story was getting too complacent, then BAM everything changed! When the end came, I didn’t realize it at first. Everything was topsy-turvy and I was frantically turning the page to find out what was going to happen, only to find myself on the precarious edge of a cliffhanger! My jaw dropped and I sat there gapping for a good five minutes.

In short, this story is amazing and I am waiting on the next installment with bated breath!
